iodyne announces Pro Mini

Iodyne’s recent announcement of the Pro Mini has generated a lot of excitement, and with good reason. It’s a portable storage solution packed with features usually reserved for desktop environments, including:

  • 4TB/8TB storage options: The Pro Mini’s two available sizes can store up to 36 hours of 4K footage, putting its capacity at the higher end of internal laptop SSDs.

  • 3 GB/second performance: iodyne has developed a cooling design that allows for 2-10 times the performance of most Pro SSDs, a feature that’s even more impressive when considering that the benchmark includes encryption and RAID protection turned on.

  • Digital labeling: Organizing and storing drives can be a messy affair that iodyne is mitigating through digital labeling to customize and sort via a small E-paper display. The label will display when disconnected or powered off, and can incorporate contact information, camera numbers, QR codes, and more.

  • Fleet Management: Part of iodyne’s product announcement also introduces Fleet Management, a service that allows administrators to remotely manage and provision Pro Minis, including the ability to manage Digital Labels and Containers, user management and access, and other settings.

  • Find My Tracking: Pro Minis featured an integrated Bluetooth signaling beacon, meaning that lost or misplaced devices can be found using Apple and Google location tracking networks.

  • RAID-6 data protection: The Pro Mini comes with XTS-AES-256 encryption and hardware-accelerated RAID-6 protection, meaning data on lost or stolen drives are protected from being accessed by unauthorized persons.

Overall, the technical specifications offered by iodyne make the Pro Mini sound like a robust and nimble product with several features that promise to enhance workflows for production and post businesses of all sizes.
