Apple announced earlier this month that their rack-mounted version of the Mac Pro is available for order on their website and the first orders are currently shipping to customers.
While the technical specifications are virtually identical to the standard desktop tower model, the rack-mounted version costs $500 more and starts at $6499 for a base configuration, including an 8-core Intel Xeon W CPU, 32 GB of memory, a Radio Pro 580X GPU and 256 GB of SSD storage. A fully maxed-out version costs upwards of $50,000, making it the most expensive version of an Apple computer in the company’s history.
The version will come will include a set of rack-mounting rails which the company boasts will simplify installation and configuration.
