Apple recently announced that it would release new versions for iOS, iPadOS, and macOS September 16.
While Apple’s recent Worldwide Developers Conference heavily hyped their move to integrated generative AI functionality, Apple Intelligence, the new versions won’t include them. What users can expect is better texting with Android devices, iPhone mirroring with macOS devices, and a few tweaks to their overall user interface.
Most current devices, including late-generation Intel-based Macs, will be eligible for the update.
Should you upgrade?
As Nodal has stated in the past, it’s usually a good idea to wait for software compatibility issues and technical glitches to be ironed out prior to upgrading. Apple’s track record for new OS releases has traditionally been mixed, so it’s best to hold off for the time being before upgrading any business-critical hardware until follow-up patches are released.
