DaVinci Resolve 17.4 with Support for New Mac Chips Released

Blackmagic Design has released version 17.4 of DaVinci Resolve Studio with a wide range of new updates and features, most notably support for Apple’s new M1 Pro and M1 Max chips.

The new version features multiple improvements to subtitling with wider support for more languages and layouts, asymmetrical trimming, native Dropbox and Dropbox Replay integration, simplified auto color management, and the ability to export timeline markers as YouTube or QuickTime chapters.

DaVinci Resolve Studio is one of the first major VFX packages to offer support for Apple’s recently released MacBook Pros and includes better DaVinci Neural Engine performance on Mac OS Monterey.

While most software companies are expected to support the M1 Pro and Max processors over the next several months, VFX studios are encouraged to hold off on upgrading to the latest MacBook Pro models until their hardware is more widely supported.
